Indianapolis just got a little brighter. Playa Bowls officially soft opened its newest location at Keystone Shoppes, bringing tropical vibes, colorful bowls and smoothies, and a fresh spring-and-summer hangout to the north side of the city.
As media with WE LIKE INDY, we had the chance to stop by during the soft opening and get a first taste of the experience before tomorrow’s official grand opening celebration.
Located at 3449 E 86th St, Indianapolis, IN, this new Playa Bowls feels like a mini tropical escape right in Indy.
One of the first things we noticed walking in was the design.
The space feels bright, playful and welcoming, with a very “vacation mood” aesthetic that fits the Playa Bowls brand perfectly. From colorful details and tropical-inspired décor to a layout that feels casual and social, the new location brings a fun energy that instantly makes you want to stay awhile.
There’s also a small outdoor patio, which may become one of our favorite features. With Indiana’s spring and summer weather finally here, it’s a great spot to enjoy your bowl, smoothie, or coffee while catching up with friends.
And yes—if you’re a Playa Bowls fan, merch is available too, so you can grab apparel and branded items while visiting.
Playa Bowls is known for its vibrant creations, and the bowls we tried completely lived up to the hype.
Mermaid Mood Bowl Steals the Spotlight
The Mermaid Mood Bowl instantly caught our attention.
Made with half Playa Pitaya® Base and half Blue Spirulina Base, blended with Playa Coconut®, banana, blue spirulina, and coconut milk, this bowl is topped with blueberry flax granola, strawberries, pineapple, coconut flakes, Nutella® drizzle, and a seashell topping.
It looked almost too pretty to eat—but only almost.
The combination of tropical fruit, creamy coconut flavors and crunchy granola created a refreshing bowl that felt perfect for warmer weather.
Sweet and Simple: Goldie Mango Bowl
We also tried the Goldie Mango Bowl, featuring Playa Mango topped with blueberry flax granola, strawberries, banana and Nutella®.
This one leaned sweeter and fruit-forward, with the mango base pairing perfectly with the fresh toppings. It’s the kind of bowl that works whether you’re craving breakfast, an afternoon pick-me-up, or something refreshing after exploring the city.
The drinks impressed us just as much.
Purple Mermaid Smoothie
The Purple Mermaid Smoothie may be one of the most visually fun drinks on the menu.
Made with Playa Pitaya® Base, banana, pineapple, vanilla protein, blue spirulina, coconut milk, and coco whip, it delivered tropical flavor with a creamy finish and just enough sweetness.
Dolce Latte Smoothie
For coffee lovers, the Dolce Latte Smoothie deserves attention.
Blending banana, peanut butter, chicory coffee concentrate, chocolate protein, and coconut milk, this smoothie felt like a coffeehouse drink and protein shake combined. Rich, smooth, and surprisingly balanced, it quickly became one of our favorites.
Another standout?
The ginger shots.
Small but powerful, they pack a refreshing kick and are worth adding to your order if you enjoy wellness drinks or need a little boost.
If you’ve been waiting to check out Playa Bowls, tomorrow is the day.
Their official grand opening takes place Saturday at 11 AM, and the first 50 guests will receive a FREE bowl and Playa t-shirt.
Considering how colorful, refreshing and photo-worthy everything was during the soft opening, we expect plenty of excitement.
