Some places in Indianapolis quickly become local favorites, and after finally visiting Borage Café, Bakery & Market, I completely understand why.
I had been hearing about their famous cinnamon roll for a while, so I decided to stop by and see what the hype was all about. My plan was actually to stay for brunch, but there was already a 40-minute wait, which honestly says a lot about how loved this place is. Instead, I took the opportunity to explore their bakery and market, and it turned out to be an incredible experience on its own.
From the moment you walk in, Borage has a welcoming vibe that feels both modern and cozy. The space is filled with comfortable sofas, chairs, and warm touches that make you want to sit down with a coffee and stay for a while. It’s the kind of place that feels like a neighborhood classic the moment you step inside.
Of course, I had to try a few of their pastries—and they did not disappoint.
I started with a cappuccino, which was smooth and perfectly balanced. Then came the pastries: an almond croissantrecommended by the cashier and the famous cinnamon roll I originally came for.
The almond croissant was incredible—flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond flavor. Honestly, it might be one of the best I’ve had in Indy.
And the cinnamon roll? Absolutely worth the hype. Soft, perfectly sweet, and baked just right. It’s the kind of pastry that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite.
Everything I tried felt fresh, well-made, and thoughtfully prepared. The bakery alone is reason enough to visit.
While waiting for my order, I also spent some time exploring the market section, which was a really nice surprise.
They carry a variety of Italian products and specialty ingredients that can sometimes be difficult to find around Indianapolis. From pantry staples to unique imported items, it’s a great place to browse if you enjoy cooking or discovering new ingredients.
It adds another layer to the experience—you can grab a coffee and pastry, then walk around the market and discover something new to bring home.
One thing that stood out to me was how clean and well-designed the space felt. The service was also fantastic—friendly, fast, and welcoming.
Even though the brunch wait was long, the bakery service was quick and efficient. I was in and out with amazing pastries and coffee in no time.
Borage Café, Bakery & Market is truly a great addition to the Speedway area. It’s creative, local, and full of heart. Whether you’re stopping in for coffee, picking up pastries, or exploring their market, it’s a place that’s easy to love.
After this visit, I definitely understand why so many people consider it a favorite.
And next time? I’m coming back for that brunch.
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. Trust me—the pastries alone are worth the trip.
