Every April 23rd, readers around the world unite to celebrate the joy of books and the power of storytelling. This World Book Day, we’re proud to spotlight an incredible voice from Indiana who is using language and literature to build bridges between cultures and generations—María Rosana Mestre.
María Rosana is not only a gifted children’s author, but also a multilingual powerhouse. She writes books for young readers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, introducing them to the magic of language from a young age. Based in Indiana, she wears many hats: author, editorial and sworn translator, founder of Spanish for Entities, and co-director of Indys Builders. She’s also a wife, a mom, and a big believer in the power of family, art, and community.
We sat down with María Rosana to talk about her love for books, languages, and what inspires her to write for children in three languages.
In addition to her literary work, María Rosana is the founder and CEO of Spanish for Entities, a company dedicated to empowering professionals through language. Spanish for Entities is more than a language service—it’s a cultural bridge rooted in education, diversity, and growth. The company supports organizations by enhancing staff communication skills in Spanish as a Foreign Language, directly within the workplace.
Spanish for Entities promotes professional growth while cultivating a culture of diversity and personal enrichment. All instruction adheres to the standards of the Real Academia Española and aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE – Español como Lengua Extranjera).
Certified by the City of Indianapolis as both an MBE and WBE, Spanish for Entities is committed to excellence, inclusion, and meaningful learning experiences.

María Rosana holds an MD in Literature from the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Brazil, a postgraduate degree in Creative Communication from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in Spain, and a BA in Print Journalism from Venezuela’s Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacín. She’s also an Authorized Center for SIELE testing and a dedicated educator.
Whether she’s writing, translating, teaching, or parenting, María Rosana is building a legacy of love through language.
At home in Indiana, María Rosana shares life with her husband, their daughter Amélie, her mom, and their playful puppy, Río. It’s a household filled with stories, languages, food, laughter, and cross-cultural memories, exactly the kind of environment that inspires her beautiful books.
This World Book Day, we celebrate María Rosana Mestre and all the writers who are shaping the next generation through stories that speak many languages. Her work reminds us that books are more than just pages, they are powerful tools of connection, identity, and joy.
Feliz Día del Libro! Happy World Book Day! Feliz Dia Mundial do Livro!
