Terrific little coffee house with atmosphere and great staff. A wonderful local business to support. This place is adorable! So well planned, and a sweet little piece of local history. We enjoyed a yummy breakfast on the shaded patio, it was a perfect morning. So many cozy places indoors to read or chat, and an upstairs patio and area indoors as well. Service was warm and friendly and the chai was delicious. Nice cozy fireplace for those chilly mornings.
Coffeeholics can explore the vintage charm of the one-room schoolhouse, where every corner echoes with stories of resilience and nostalgia. The past comes alive with a glance at the first class that opened the doors in 1900, showcasing the dedication to restoration and keeping the spirit alive.

Step into a world where history and modernity converge seamlessly at School House 7 Cafe. Nestled in the heart of the fishers community, this charming establishment carries with it the rich legacy of the Class of 1901, the pioneers who opened the doors to Schoolhouse 7 back in 1900. A fascinating glimpse into the past awaits every visitor, with a captivating picture of the inaugural class adorning the first floor.
The photograph captures a moment frozen in time, a class stoically posed, perhaps reflecting the challenges of that era or the patience required for early photography. During the meticulous restoration process, this image served as a guiding light, ensuring that every detail, from the replacement windows to the front door, paid homage to the original construction.
A remarkable piece of history unfolds within the cafe’s walls, echoing the resilience of the schoolhouse that weathered a tornado in 1947, losing its bell tower in the process. An aspiration to rebuild the tower lingers, a testament to the enduring spirit of this cherished landmark.
As visitors savor their coffee within the inviting ambience, they are encouraged to take a moment to appreciate the green space that separates the drive-thru lane and the building—a nod to the place where students once gathered for al fresco lunches on sunny days. It’s a deliberate choice, preserving the essence of the past while inviting natural light into the cafe’s interiors.
Curiosity often sparks the question, “Why the ‘7’?” Unraveling the mystery behind this digit reveals a quirk of fate. Originally intended to be the 8th school in Fall Creek Township, the schoolhouse claimed its identity as the 7th. Etched in concrete just below the front sign, the original nameplate proudly displays “No. 7.” Exploring further, visitors will find a copy of the Fall Creek Township map from 1866, where the school’s destiny as the 7th is eternally recorded.
