Gen Con 2025 Experience in Indianapolis – A Record‑Breaking Weekend

We just returned from Gen Con 2025, held in Indianapolis from July 31 to August 3, and what an unforgettable event! As part of WE LIKE INDY, we immersed ourselves in a convention that not only celebrated the best of tabletop gaming but also broke records, showcasing Indianapolis at its very best.

Record Attendance and Exciting Energy

Gen Con 2025 was completely sold out, welcoming over 70,000 fans from around the globe. This year marked one of the biggest Gen Con events in nearly 60 years, turning downtown Indianapolis into the ultimate hub for gaming enthusiasts. From the moment we stepped into the Indiana Convention Center, the energy was electric—thousands of attendees ready to play, explore, and connect.

Nearly 600 Vendors and 30,000 Events

The Exhibit Hall was massive, featuring almost 600 vendors, the largest number in Gen Con history. It was a paradise for board game lovers, RPG players, and collectors, with everything from exclusive game releases to art, cosplay gear, and indie creations.

This year also saw nearly 30,000 scheduled events, offering something for every kind of gamer. Attendees joined game demos, tournaments, workshops, live art sessions, cosplay contests, writing seminars, and even film screenings. Every corner of the convention was packed with opportunities to discover something new.

Community, Cosplay, and Local Flavor

One of the highlights of Gen Con 2025 was the Block Party on South Street, which brought the local flavor of Indianapolis to the convention. Food trucks, local breweries, and artisan stands gave fans the chance to experience Indy while enjoying the festivities. We also loved the Makers Market, where local artists and creators showcased their unique products, adding a personal touch to the gaming experience.

The convention wouldn’t be complete without cosplay, and this year was no exception. The halls were filled with jaw‑dropping costumes, and the iconic Costume Parade added a vibrant splash of creativity and fandom to the weekend.
