GermanFest 2024 at the Athenaeum was everything we hoped for—fun, flavorful, and filled with that warm, community spirit that makes you feel like part of the family.
If you’re into beer, brats, and a dash of dachshund races, this was the place to be on October 5.
As soon as we stepped into the Athenaeum, we were greeted by the sounds of lively German music and the scent of sizzling sausages. The entire venue felt like the ultimate neighborhood block party with a German twist. People of all ages were enjoying the day, and the energy was contagious.
The food was hands-down one of the biggest highlights. From fresh-baked pretzels to bratwursts packed with all the fixings, the variety was enough to keep us snacking all day. And, of course, there was no shortage of beer. Whether you’re a fan of traditional German brews or you prefer local craft options, GermanFest had you covered with steins overflowing at every corner.
One of the most memorable moments? The dachshund races. If you’ve never watched a pack of determined little wiener dogs sprint down a track, you’re missing out on some serious entertainment. The crowd was all in—cheering, laughing, and rooting for their favorite pups. It was pure joy.
But what really stood out to us this year was the sense of togetherness. GermanFest didn’t just offer a good time—it felt like being part of a celebration that was both authentic and welcoming. The music, the food, the people—it all came together to create an atmosphere that made us want to stay all day, and we almost did!
Between dancing to live tunes, shopping for unique German-themed items, and sharing a stein with friends (new and old), the day flew by. There was something special about raising our glasses with strangers who quickly felt like friends, all while celebrating a rich cultural heritage.
All in all, GermanFest 2024 was a blast, and we’re already looking forward to next year. Whether you come for the food, the fun, or the furry friends, this festival never disappoints.
