Torchy’s Tacos Zionsville Indiana | Opening Night Preview

Last night, we were invited to the grand opening of Torchy’s Tacos in Zionsville, Indiana, and it immediately felt like a great addition to the local food scene. The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and full of energy, making it the kind of place you want to settle into, order a few tacos, and stay awhile.

One of the highlights of the evening was learning more about the brand’s story thanks to Matthew, who shared the background and vision behind Torchy’s Tacos. Understanding where the brand comes from and the passion behind the menu made the experience feel more personal and intentional.

Torchy’s Tacos just opened in Zionsville, Indiana, and it’s a bold new taco spot worth visiting.

Start with the chips & dips

We kicked things off with The Threesome, and it’s easily one of the best ways to start your meal. The combination of queso, guacamole, and salsa with crispy chips is simple, satisfying, and packed with flavor. The spice level is well balanced, making it a perfect appetizer to share and a great introduction to what Torchy’s does best.

The tacos: bold flavors and signature favorites

When it came to the tacos, Torchy’s really shows its range. We started with The Matador from the secret menu and the Baja Shrimp, and both immediately set the bar high. The Matador stood out with its bold, smoky flavor and just the right amount of heat, while the Baja Shrimp felt lighter, crispy, and incredibly well-balanced. Together, they showcased two very different sides of the menu — one rich and intense, the other fresh and satisfying — and made it clear that Torchy’s doesn’t play it safe when it comes to flavor.

We then moved on to some of their fan favorites: Trailer Park, one of Torchy’s signature tacos, and Crossroads, which leans more classic but still delivers big flavor. Trailer Park was pure comfort food and easy to see why it’s such a staple on the menu, while Crossroads brought a more traditional taco vibe that still felt bold and well executed. To round things out, we also tried Tipsy Chick, which added a fun, slightly unexpected twist to the lineup and tied everything together nicely. Overall, every taco felt intentional, filling, and full of personality — exactly what you want when you come to Torchy’s.

Margaritas that complete the experience

The drinks at Torchy’s deserve just as much attention as the tacos. We tried several margaritas and cocktails, and they were refreshing, flavorful, and perfectly paired with the food. Whether you’re into classic margaritas, frozen options, or something with a little heat, there’s a drink here that fits the vibe and keeps the night going.

Don’t skip the churros

Save room for dessert, because the scratch-made churros are a must. Warm, soft, and coated in cinnamon sugar, they’re served with dulce de leche and make the perfect ending to a table full of tacos.

A great spot for groups

Torchy’s Tacos works really well for casual dinners and group outings. Between shareable appetizers, a wide taco selection, vegetarian options, and fun drinks, it’s an easy place to recommend for taco nights, weekend plans, or a laid-back dinner with friends.
