At WE LIKE INDY, we love celebrating events that bring history, tradition, and community together. One of the most iconic in Indiana is the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival™, a 10-day celebration of heritage, food, and fall colors. While we haven’t had the chance to go in past years, this October we’re hoping to finally walk through those historic bridges and soak in everything the festival has to offer.
Mark your calendars:
October 10–19, 2025
October 9–18, 2026
The festival always begins on the second Friday of October and stretches across 10 full days. It’s held throughout Parke County, known as the “Covered Bridge Capital of the World.” With 31 historic covered bridges to explore, it’s the perfect mix of history and fall scenery.
The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival™ is Indiana’s largest festival, and it’s easy to see why. Beyond the bridges, you’ll find:
Authentic arts and crafts from local artisans
Delicious festival food, from homemade chicken noodles to fresh apple butter
Beautiful fall foliage framing every small town and historic site
Each of the nine festival communities brings something unique: Rockville is buzzing with vendors and entertainment, Bridgeton is home to the famous mill and rustic crafts, while Mansfield, Bloomingdale, and others highlight antiques, quilts, and cozy small-town charm.
For us, attending isn’t just about sightseeing—it’s about connecting with Indiana’s roots. This festival is a living tradition that has carried on for generations, and being part of it means experiencing both the history and the warmth of Hoosier hospitality. We can already imagine walking across the bridges, tasting fresh-baked pies, and meeting the people who make this event possible year after year.
If you’re looking for the best way to experience fall in Indiana, this festival should be at the top of your list. Whether you love history, crave comfort food, or just want to see Indiana dressed in its autumn colors, the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival is the perfect destination.
