There’s something special about walking into a video store, scanning the walls for the perfect movie, and taking home a VHS for movie night. This year, the Indiana State Fair is bringing some of that nostalgia back with Rewind: A VHS Revival, a new immersive exhibit celebrating the movies, artwork, and pop culture of the VHS era.
Located inside the Harvest Pavilion, Rewind takes visitors on a trip from the 1980s through the early 2000s, when video rental stores were part of the weekend routine and movie posters helped turn new releases into must-see events.
More Than 100 Hand-Painted Movie Posters
At the heart of the exhibit is a collection of more than 100 large-scale, hand-painted movie posters from Art of Music’s private collection. The pieces were originally created by Art & Sign Productions and once appeared inside video stores across the country.
Long before scrolling through streaming thumbnails, these oversized works of art helped grab customers’ attention and promote everything from blockbuster releases to cult classics.
Seeing them together at the Indiana State Fair feels like stepping into another era. The colorful artwork, recognizable movies, and larger-than-life displays make Rewind as much a celebration of movie culture as it is a nostalgic look back at the days of VHS.
An Immersive Throwback Experience
The experience goes beyond the movie posters. Visitors can explore themed displays, interactive activations, designer spotlight exhibits, behind-the-scenes content, and live painting sessions featuring artists.
There’s also a Popcorn & Pours Bar, adding a classic movie-night touch to the experience.
And because baseball is a major part of the 2026 Indiana State Fair theme, Rewind includes a Baseball Movie Theatreshowing fan-favorite baseball films, along with the Big League Barn Shop, featuring official Indianapolis Indians merchandise.
Music fans can also stop by the Indy CD & Vinyl Pop-Up Record Store, bringing another piece of physical-media nostalgia into the exhibit.

Rewind: A VHS Revival is especially fun for anyone who remembers picking out movies at the local video store, rewinding tapes before returning them, or spending Friday night deciding which movie everyone would watch.
But you don’t necessarily have to remember the VHS era to enjoy it. The hand-painted artwork alone makes the exhibit worth exploring, and the interactive elements give younger visitors a look at what movie culture was like before streaming took over.
It’s colorful, nostalgic, highly visual, and definitely a spot where you’ll want to have your camera ready.
