Aloha, Indy! Hawaiian Bros Opens First South-Side Restaurant

Hawaiian Bros Island Grill just opened its first sit-down restaurant in Indianapolis, and it’s on the south side. The new spot landed at 7910 S. U.S. 31, right in the Greenwood Place Shopping Center. It’s close enough to both Greenwood and Southport that folks from either neighborhood can wander over without much of a drive.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Hawaiian Bros has technically been feeding Indy already. The chain has been running a carryout-and-delivery-only setup downtown through the Circle City Eats facility on North Pennsylvania Street. This new location is the first one you can actually walk into.

The menu leans into what the chain calls “island-inspired” plates. Think chicken, pork, Spam or veggies, each glazed in a sweet, savory, or spicy sauce, and always served with a side of mac salad and steamed rice. Prices land somewhere between $10 and $16, which feels pretty reasonable for a full plate. And if you’ve got room after, there’s Dole Soft Serve waiting, better known to most of us as Dole Whip. One quirky detail, though: no fryers, no microwaves, no freezers in the kitchen.

Hours run 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and they stay open until midnight Thursday through Saturday. The grand opening is set for 11 a.m. on September 12, and it sounds worth showing up early for. The first 100 customers get a free T-shirt plus a gift card worth anywhere from $25 to $500, and one lucky person walks away with free Hawaiian Bros for an entire year.

This won’t be the last one, either. Hawaiian Bros already has its sights set on Noblesville next, with a location planned for the Promenade of Noblesville development near Meijer at State Road 32 and Little Chicago Road. The chain now has close to 100 locations spread across 14 states, and Central Indiana looks like it’s becoming one of its growth spots.
