Take Care Records Indianapolis: A New Vinyl Shop to Visit

Indianapolis has always had a strong music culture, and discovering new independent record shops is one of my favorite things to do around the city. Recently, we visited a brand-new vinyl store that’s already creating buzz among local music lovers: Take Care Records.

Located on Allisonville Road, this cozy shop is the kind of place where you instantly feel welcome the moment you walk through the door. From the warm atmosphere to the thoughtfully curated selection of music, Take Care Records is quickly becoming one of the best new spots in Indy for vinyl hunting.

A Passion Project by a Local Musician

The shop is owned by J. Rogers, a musician from the band Everything Now and the creator behind this exciting new space for music lovers. His passion for records and community is clear the moment you start browsing.

J. previously worked at Square Cat Vinyl, another beloved Indianapolis record store, and now he’s bringing his own vision to life with Take Care Records. The store reflects years of experience in the vinyl world and a deep love for music culture.

During our visit, J. was incredibly welcoming and happy to chat about music, recommend albums, and help us find what we were looking for. That kind of genuine interaction is exactly what makes independent record stores so special.

A Great Selection of Vinyl, CDs, and More

One of the first things we noticed was the wide and well-organized selection inside the shop.

Take Care Records offers a little bit of everything for music collectors:

  • Vinyl records across multiple genres

  • CDs and cassette tapes

  • Movies and music-related items

  • Carefully curated albums both new and classic

Whether you’re searching for a rare find or just browsing for your next favorite album, there’s plenty to explore.

During our visit, we picked up “LUX” by Rosalía, and I was also seriously considering grabbing the new Bruno Mars album. That’s the beauty of record stores like this—you come in for one record and suddenly find five more you want to take home.

A Must-Visit for Record Collectors in Indy

What really stood out about Take Care Records was the genuine, welcoming vibe. The shop feels personal, authentic, and built with care—exactly the kind of place that keeps local music culture alive.

Independent businesses like this are part of what gives Indianapolis its creative energy. Supporting small shops not only helps local entrepreneurs, it also keeps spaces like this thriving for music fans across the city.

If you love digging through crates, discovering new artists, or simply appreciating the sound of vinyl, Take Care Records deserves a spot on your Indy music map.

After visiting, one thing is clear:

This is one of Indy’s best NEW record spots.

From the kindness of the owner to the impressive selection of vinyl and tapes, it’s the kind of store you’ll want to return to again and again.

Don’t sleep on Take Care Records — it’s a must-stop for LP hunting in Indianapolis.
