The roar of engines at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is usually reserved for IndyCars chasing glory, but this year, a different kind of machine stole part of the spotlight during Indy 500 festivities.
Monster Jam officially introduced Power Rush, an all-new, race-inspired monster truck designed with speed, precision, and Indy energy in mind. The reveal took place during Indianapolis 500 weekend, giving fans an unexpected crossover between two worlds built on horsepower and adrenaline.
Unlike traditional Monster Jam trucks, Power Rush carries a sleek, motorsports-inspired design that feels right at home at IMS. Built with aerodynamic styling and race-focused details, the truck was created specifically to celebrate speed and push boundaries. Monster Jam described it as a completely new concept, inspired by the spirit of racing and engineered unlike anything previously seen in its lineup.
But the unveiling was only half the story.
Shortly after its debut, Power Rush headed onto the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway surface for something even bigger: a Monster Truck World Speed Record attempt.
Behind the wheel was veteran driver Camden Murphy, known to racing fans for his experience in both Monster Jam and professional motorsports. With thousands watching during Indy 500 qualifying weekend, Murphy launched the massive machine down the Speedway straightaway and reached an astonishing 103 mph, officially setting a new Monster Truck World Speed Record.
For perspective, Power Rush stands approximately 12 feet tall, measures 12 feet wide, weighs nearly 12,000 pounds, and is powered by an estimated 1,500-horsepower engine. Watching a machine of that size hit triple-digit speeds at IMS created one of the most unexpected and memorable moments of Race Month.
The collaboration between Monster Jam and IndyCar proved to be more than entertainment. It became a celebration of innovation and motorsports culture, showing that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway continues to evolve while embracing new ways to engage fans.
For many attending Indy 500 weekend, Power Rush was more than a reveal or a record run. It was a reminder that at IMS, history can happen in many forms — whether it comes from a 230-mph IndyCar or a monster truck rewriting the record books.
