If you’re always looking for new family-friendly places around Central Indiana, Carmel has just unveiled one that’s worth adding to your list. The brand-new Monon Boulevard Playground is officially open, bringing a unique music-inspired play experience to one of the city’s most popular destinations.

Located along the Monon Greenway between Midtown Plaza and Main Street, the new playground is part of the third phase of the Monon Boulevard expansion and quickly becomes one of the most impressive public playgrounds we’ve seen in Indiana.

A Playground Designed Around Music

The first thing you’ll notice is the incredible 40-foot-tall red tower, designed to resemble a giant metronome. It’s the tallest playground structure ever built by Landscape Structures, the same company behind several of Carmel’s popular neighborhood parks.

Throughout the playground, you’ll find musical elements woven into the design—from interactive instruments to piano key-inspired pavement and signage celebrating the history of the Monon Railroad. The entire space feels thoughtfully designed to encourage creativity, movement, and imagination.

One of the biggest highlights is the pair of enclosed spiral slides that twist down from the towering structure. Even better, they’re specially engineered to stay cooler during hot summer days, making them much more comfortable than traditional metal slides.

More Than Just a Playground

The playground is part of a larger $14 million expansion of Monon Boulevard that continues transforming this area into one of Carmel’s best public gathering spaces.

The newest section includes wider walking and biking paths, landscaped green spaces, seating areas, and places for families to relax before or after playing. Its location also makes it easy to combine your visit with lunch in Midtown, a walk along the Monon Trail, or a visit to nearby attractions like the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts.

Future plans also include the Great American Songbook Museum just steps away, making the music-inspired playground an even more fitting addition to this growing cultural district.

Why We Think Families Will Love It

What makes this playground special isn’t just its size—it’s how intentionally it was designed. Every detail encourages kids to climb, explore, imagine, and play while giving parents a beautiful, walkable area to spend time together.

Whether you’re planning a weekend outing, looking for a new playground to explore after school, or simply taking a stroll along the Monon Greenway, this is one of those places that instantly feels like it belongs in Carmel.

📍 Location: Monon Boulevard, between Midtown Plaza and Main Street, along the Monon Greenway in Carmel, Indiana.

It’s another great reason to spend a day exploring one of our favorite cities in Central Indiana.
